Selon l’association professionnelle ISM, l’activité du secteur des services aux Etats-Unis s’est accélérée en août.
L’ISM « non manufacturier » a en effet progressé pour la première fois depuis le mois de mai, progressant de 0,6 point par rapport à juillet, s’établissant désormais à 53,3%, les analystes tablant quant à eux sur une baisse de 51,0%.
L’activité non manufacturière a donc poursuivi sa progression pour le vingt et unième mois d’affilée, sa hausse s’est accélérée pour la première fois en trois mois.
Rappelons que l’indicateur englobe les services au sens large : en plus du secteur tertiaire, l’agriculture, la construction et les services d’utilité publique comme l’eau et l’électricité sont également pris en compte, correspondant à plus des trois quarts de l’activité économique US.
La prudence reste toutefois de mise, certains directeurs d’achats interrogés indiquant une certaine incertitude sur la conjoncture de la fin de l’année.
