PSA : FCA, après Opel ?

PSA, pas rassasié  avec Opel ?  Après avoir récemment finalisé  le rachat de la filiale de General Motors,  PSA  pourrait s’allier à un constructeur … comme Fiat Chrysler  ? Dans un entretien au journal Les Echos, le PDG de PSA, Carlos Tavares, s’est ainsi dit « ouvert à toutes les propositions » de partenariats avec d’autres groupes, y compris FCA. Ou plutôt :  surtout avec FCA …?

Des liquidités qui pourraient financer un nouveau projet de croissance externe

Alors que le groupe détient plus de 8 milliards de liquidités, le quotidien financier a souhaité savoir si PSA allait en tirer partie pour financer un nouveau projet de « croissance externe« .  Ce à quoi Carlos Tavares a répondu que tout était  possible. Ajoutant toutefois qu’un tel type d’opération ne constituait « ni la colonne vertébrale » du projet d’entreprise de PSA, « ni une fin en soi. »

« Si le plan stratégique de croissance organique produit de bons résultats, cela laisse un peu d’espace pour saisir des opportunités comme celle d’Opel. On abordera cela comme une cerise sur le gâteau« , a-t-il ajouté.

PSA ouvre grand la porte à FCA

Interrogé sur l’éventualité d’une alliance avec FCA, Carlos Tavares n’a pas fermé la porte. Ajoutant toutefois ne faire « aucune fixation sur Fiat Chrysler, ni sur un autre groupe. » Rappelant toutefois que les actionnaires de FCA s’étaient prononcés à plusieurs reprises sur le fait que PSA n’était pas le bon partenaire potentiel pour eux.

Carlos Tavares a largement tendu la perche à FCA, indiquant que le groupe était totalement ouvert à toutes les propositions. Laissant entendre que la balle était désormais dans le camp de Fiat Chrysler.

« FCA est en train de décoller et n’a besoin de personne« , avait déclaré pour sa part Sergio Marchionne en juin dernier, lors de la présentation de son plan stratégique. Voulant ainsi signifier que le groupe entendait se développer et prospérer, sans s’appuyer sur un allié.

Le décès de Sergio Marchionne et l’arrivée de son successeur au sein de FCA pourrait-il changer la donne …  ?

Spéculations autour d’une alliance de FCA avec un autre constructeur

Analystes et marché spéculent depuis des mois  sur une éventuelle fusion de FCA avec un autre constructeur. Sergio Marchionne avait même un temps indiqué qu’il était favorable à un tel projet. Redoutant la fragilité financière, voire technologique de son groupe, il avait alors recherché l’appui d’un partenaire. Une tentative d’approche auprès de General Motors avait échoué. Les rumeurs avaient également parlé d’une alliance avec Hyundai ou Great Wall, sans que rien ne se soit concrétisé.

Les spéculations pourraient repartir de plus belles alors que Fiat Chrysler vient d’annoncer de biens mauvais résultats … et que les constructeurs doivent investir massivement dans les véhicules de demain : électriques, autonomes et connectés. FCA, fragilisé par le décès de Sergio Marchionne pourrait ainsi trouver tout intérêt à s’allier avec un puissant partenaire.
