Le groupe minier suisse Xstrata a annoncé mercredi avoir enregistré une légère progression des volumes de charbon pour le troisième trimestre 2012.
La société a aisi précisé dans un communiqué avoir extrait au total 24 millions de tonnes de charbon entre juillet et septembre.
Ce qui correspond à une hausse de 1,7% en valeur glissante annuelle.
Sur les neuf premiers mois de l’année, le taux de progression est de 8,5%, chaque division ayant pu augmenter sa production.
Xstrata a par ailleurs indiqué que d’ici la fin de l’année, dix grands sites miniers verraient leur activité démarrer, notamment au Pérou, en Australie et en Argentine. Et ce, pas uniquement dans le domaine du charbon, mais pour l’ensemble des matières premières produites par le groupe.
