« Nous allons voir comment améliorer le Forum. Il est trop pour en parler. La question sera discutée car l’ordre du jour est ouvert », a déclaré Abdallah Al-Attiyah aux journalistes, peu avant l’ouverture du 6e Forum des pays exportateurs de gaz (FPEG).
Le ministre s’est toutefois refusé à tout autre commentaire sur cette proposition. « Nous verrons ce que diront d’autres ministres », a-t-il dit. « Nous allons étudier comment coopérer entre nous. Il faudrait une plus grande coopération pour stabiliser le marché », a-t-il ajouté.
« Les pays consommateurs ne devront pas s’inquiéter et ne devront pas préjuger de la création d’un cartel. Ils devront attendre de voir » les résultats du Forum de Doha, a-t-il indiqué. Les pays de l’UE s’inquiètent en effet de voir émerger un tel organisme, ayant d’ores et déjà exprimés leurs craintes lorsqu’Algérie et Russie avaient scellé d’importants accords dans le secteur gazier.
