Il estime en effet que leur avantage principal est de permettre de satisfaire aux futures normes européennes destinées à rendre nos véhicules moins gourmands. L’hybridation 48 Volt permet en effet de réduire de 20 % la consommation d’essence et de 5 à 10 % la consommation de diesel.
Selon Peter Gutzmer, d’ici 10 ans, les systèmes à 48 Volt représenteront la majorité des véhicules hybrides. Pariant sur une telle technologie, la division eMobility de Schaeffler devrait représenter 30 % de son chiffre d’affaires dans le secteur automobile d’ici à 2025 (contre 5 % en 2016). A noter qu’une variante de ce système hybride peut d’ores et déjà être vu sur la route à travers la nouvelle Renault Scenic.
