Matthias Müller sur la sellette ? Le fonds Union Investments, qui compte parmi les 15 principaux actionnaires de Volkswagen, a déclaré vouloir le départ du nouveau président du groupe, en faveur d’un dirigeant indépendant, non salarié de la compagnie.
La pression s’accentue sur le patron de VW alors qu’un investisseur leader en Allemagne vient d’appeler Matthias Müller à démissionner, moins de deux mois après avoir pris la tête du constructeur frappé par le scandale. Selon les informations fournies par Volkswagen, Union Investment est en effet le troisième plus grand gestionnaire d’actifs en Allemagne.
Matthias Müller est notamment critiqué pour la pénurie d’information entourant les personnes à l’origine des
faits ayant provoqué le scandale et le montant des coûts auxquels le groupe devra faire face pour à la fois dédommager les clients lésés, s’acquitter d’éventuelles amendes, financer d’éventuels rappels, primes à la casse ou autres opérations de même ordre.
Un des gestionnaires de portefeuille senior de Union Investment a ainsi déclaré au Financial Times qu’il serait beaucoup mieux d’avoir « des personnes nouvelles et fraîches » au sein du conseil de gestion et du conseil de surveillance pour pouvoir regagner la confiance des marchés financiers. Or, selon lui, les marchés de capitaux considèrent que VW ne communique pas bien et qu’il génère de la défiance. « Nous sommes déçus par les décisions prises par VW concernant son personnel et les informations fournies sur le dossier » a-t-il par ailleurs ajouté.
Union Investments n’a toutefois pas le pouvoir à lui tout seul de congédier Müller. Il ne détient en effet que 0,5 % du groupe. Il n’en demeure pas moins l’un des 15 premiers actionnaires de VW et une voix influente sur le débat concernant l’avenir du constructeur. Invesco Perpetual , le gestionnaire de fonds britannique qui détient une petite participation dans VW, a également appelé le constructeur à réviser sa culture, tout en apportant son soutien à Müller .
