    Huawei Training Center for French-speaking African Nations Launched in Tunis

    Tunis, May 19 – Huawei African Training Center for French-speaking Nations was officially launched today here in Tunis. It is the company’s first training center especially set up for French-speaking areas in Africa.
    Montassar Ouaili, Minister of Communication Technologies and Liu Yuhe, Chinese ambassador to Tunis cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony for the training center.
    Project Phase I of this training center covers over 600 square meters, involving an investment of more than US$6 million. The center has 3 classrooms, each able to accommodate 50 trainees at the same time. It is also equipped with 3 labs for hands-on practice. When Phase II is complete, the center is expected to cover 1100 square meters.
    The Minister said that the setup of Huawei Training Center for French-speaking African Nations in Tunis is one more witness of the longtime friendship between Tunis and China. The establishment of this training center will not only strengthen the Sino-Tunis cooperation in telecommunication technology, he added, but also expand China’s cooperation with other French-speaking African countries in this field.
    Huawei’s manager in its Tunisian Representative Office said that the goal of building the training center is to serve the market and train the technicians in Tunis and other French-speaking African countries who can understand and grasp telecom technologies with a view to expanding Huawei’s share in these markets. Besides, training its local staff helps Huawei achieve its technology localization goal. At present, over 60% of the office’s staff are local. In the future, the overseas market development of this company will depend more and more on the local staff. The trainers in the training center are all local people, who have been trained at the company headquarters or its regional headquarters and met the qualification requirements.
